Curare is plant product from the plant curare which was used as a arrow head poison for hunting animals in South America. The mechanism behind is Curare is a competitive blocker of acetylcholine and binds to the acetylcholine receptor. As a result acetylcholine cannot bind to its receptor on muscle. As acetylcholine cannot bind with acetylcholine receptor, excitation of muscle cannot occur which results in paralysis of all muscles including respiratory muscles and ultimately results in death.
