Sample of claws cultivates into blood agar. This is a "gold standart" for detection of Streptococcus pyogenes. We choose the beta-hemolytic colony that appears on Petri dishes and test with Basitrasin and Trimetoprim-Sulphametoxazole antibiotic discs. If bacteria is sensitive to Basitrasin, but resistant to Trimetoprim-Sulphamoxazole (as in picture), we can say this bacteria is A group beta-hemolytic Streptococcus. Antibiotic sensitivity test is not developed because Streptococcus pyogenes has not yet detected penicillin resistance. Treatment is performed empirically.
