Polytrauma consequences

Young man, construction work, presented with blunt trauma when a grinder went over him at work. Patient had splenic rupture along with other gastrointestinal lacerations and pelvic fracture. Patients spleen had to be removed, what could be some long term consequences in this scenario?

Elevated D-Dimers. Just had 2 cases where spleen was removed at a young age and middle age, and they both had elevated D-Dimers.

Infections esp with streptococcus pneumonia, H. Influenza, N. Meningitidis

Bcoz they are capsulated organisms normally destroyed by spleen
