Hi everyone. I’m 16 years old and I’m graduating high school early. I’m starting pre Med and I wanted some advice from you guys. Anything will help! I was thinking about trying to graduate college in only 3 years if that’s possible. I need 3 years of prerequisites to be able to go to medical school. I wanted to kind of divide my 4th years classes in my 3 years. That is just an idea I had. How should I schedule my classes if I want to do that and what classes will help me in med school? What else should I do out of school for experience in the medical field? I’ve heard about being an EMT but I have to be 18.
You sound very determined and sure of yourself ~ and that's great. Honestly though, you will have the rest of your life to work. ENJOY being a kid/teenager now ~ you'll never get THIS time of your life back. Check with local hospitals, maybe you could become a Scribe for doctors in the emergency room?
I’m starting college in August. Do I have time to do some classes before then? Or can I do some online while in school?
You could always volunteer at hospitals and help out the nurses until you know what you want to do there. My friend scribes for doctors while he is taking classes and I decided to do research with my professor over the summer.
omg same! I graduated when I was 17 but I went into a medical assisting program that took three months. I finished in September but waited until I was 18 to take my boards because most places wouldn’t even consider letting a 17 year old touch a patient. It’s amazing to be so set on your goal but think of taking some time off. I’ll be a junior in college next semester and I haven’t had a proper summer since before my senior year of high school. It’s overwhelming and I just broke my 4.0 because of how ambitious I was trying to take 18 credits, work, and apply for scholarships.
