Glaucoma doesn't mean ocular hypertension only but also associated with optic disc changes and visual field defects....
The medical treatment determenied by knowing the cause. Mean if the cause is increase formation we use Diamox to stop It. SO, i asked how we know the cause
I know that. But the optic disc changes and visual fieled defects its caused by the pressure of increase IOP
I agree but sometimes there is normal tension glaucoma. The treatment depends on state of angle of anterior chamber. Trabecular meshwork sclerosis may be the cause of open angle glaucoma in which aqueous finds a high resistance to pass through it although by gonioscopy we can find it open. To treat it we try to decrease aqueous formation below normal to be compatible with Trabecular sclerosis so we use beta blocker.. Diamox.. and try to increase drainage by using prostaglandin and miotics
