Elmslie Trillat

Procedure: Elmslie Trillat. A modified version of the Fulkerson osteotomy procedure. The procedure normally begins arthroscopic, however due to insurance complications this patient (me) wasn't able to have the arthroscopy. An 8cm incision is made vertically down the front, under the knee cap. Bone is broken off with the patellar tendon and then shifted further to the medial side and screwed into place. This was followed with a medial tightening. Reasons for the procedure may be to correct knee instability or knee pain. Recovery varies, personally for me it took 6 months plus.
