Why does right pleural effusion occurs in cirrhosis???

Right pleural effusion occurs with cirrhosis bcz the upper portion of liver is in contact with the right part of diaghragm . This is known as hepatic hydrothorax .

It is not due to compression ,the fluid in the pleural space is believed to be derived from the ascitic fluid that accompany hepatic cirrhosis

You mean due to compression during hepatomegaly.
