Organ of Corti - EAR Anatomy

🎤 The microphone of the body! Read below and tell us what you want to see next! ⁣ ⁣⁣ The Organ of COrti is found in the COchlea!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🗣👂🏼⁣⁣ It is a sensitive element in the inner ear. It’s found on top of the basilar membrane and contains rows of hair cells found on its surface. Above the hair cells is the vibrating tectorial membrane, it moves because of the ⁣⁣ pressure variations in the fluid filled tympanic and vestibular canals. ⁣⁣ Insta: @rev.med⁣ ⁣⁣ 🎼⁣⁣ The basilar membrane follows the path of the spiraling cochlea and it contains aprox 18 thousand hair cells distributed along it. The place along the basilar membrane where maximum excitation of the hair cells occurs determines the perception of pitch according to the place theory. The perception of loudness is also connected with this organ.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel found in the link in the bio! Follow us on Insta @rev.med. More to come on MEDizzy!
