Is that really so that every medical student attends medical university 'cause there's a disease of someone they love?

I think many people choose medical university because the person they love suffers from disease. But there are always people who attend medical university because they think it's their destiny. But here's a question: who's will to study is stronger?

I believe it's both for me. I had a grandfather with dementia. I also believe being a surgeon is my destiny. I think it's hard to say to say which will drive one more, I think it's based off of eagerness to prove and your passion for medicine

I see. I understood that I want to be a doctor when I was 9 y.o. When I was 18 my grandmother got a stroke. And me and my family could help her better if I were a doctor. But we couldn't help her enough. So it's also both for me.
