How do they stop the heart and keep the blood flowing through the body? Its crazy
On pump means the blood is bypassed the heart through tubes to a machine that perfuses the body but bypasses the heart and lungs....so much easier to operate on a motionless heart☺😷 a cardioplegia solution high in potassium actually stops the heart. The only heart surgery done in evenings/nights in my hospital are chest reopening for past op complications such as bleeding live scrubbed for hundreds over the years but never actually scrubbed fir a bypass or valve surgery as a specialized team of nurses do the surgery in my hospital
