. This sagittal section of a specimen from a woman of 27 shows the normal appearances. Enamel removed by decalcifi cation of the specimen has left the triangular space. The epithelial attachment forms a line from the top of the papilla to the amelocemental junction; its enamel surface, the actual line of attachment, is sharply defi ned. The gingival sulcus, minute in extent, is formed where the papilla curves away from the line of the enamel surface. There is hardly any infl ammatory infi ltrate.
