Hey guys! So I’m a freshman in high school and I am really interested in becoming a doctor. Is there anything I can do in high school that will pave my way to med school?

If your school offers it, take Anatomy and Physiology. Otherwise take lots of science courses. Especially biology. If you are in America, take AP or Honors courses. Don’t settle for basic courses. Learn as much as possible.

Unfortunately, my school doesn’t offer Anatomy and Physiology :(. I’m trying to start a club for those of us interested in it though. I know Anatomy and Physiology is super important so my mom brings me books from the UofM so I take notes and watch lectures.

If you are in America and they offer it, take career path courses as well as what Mykel Patrick Mellor said, those are essential classes

It means courses like pathophysiology, principles of health science, medical terminology, just classes that pertain to your career path

Sorry, what does a career path course mean?

Same here. I'm just going to take science and social sciences throughout highschool. I also found some great books on amazon about surgery and stuff like that.

Omg same! You can also get a bunch for really cheap at thrift stores, granted not in the best shape but it’s better than nothing right :)? My friend got 3 the other day for free because the cashier lady got so happy over her buying books, apparently nobody does that anymore:/

PLEASE dual enroll at a University if possible

No, in America during high school you can take college classes while you take high school(or secondary) classes

Like post secondary?

My son took all of the nursing, and anatomy classes in high school. He graduated with a CNA certificate, and his EMT certificate. He now has a job in a medical center that is helping pay for his school. Get PERFECT grades! Apply for every scholarship you can get your hands on. Volunteer in a nursing home. Do everything you can to convince universities that you're serious about this.

Thank you so much for commenting, I bet you’re really proud of your son:). I just got accepted to the volunteer program at a nearby hospital, is a nursing home a bit better for med school or is there not that much of a difference?
