Silicosis
Microscopic picture of the lung in silicosis. The silicotic nodule consists of hyaline centre surrounded by concentric layers of collagen which are further enclosed by fibroblasts and dust-laden macrophages. Polarising microscopy in photomicrograph on right shows bright fibres of silica.
