Meconium ileus results from the presence of impacted, abnormal thick meconium in the terminal ileum. It is a pathognomonic of cystic Fibrosis. It is present with bilious vomiting, abdominal distension, failure to pass meconium and mass in the right iliac fossa. Abdominal X-rays show: Dilated bowel loop without air fluid levels. "SOAP-BUBBLE" appearance in the right lower quadrant. Treatment is Gastrografin Enema for uncomplicated cases while surgical removal for complicated cases.
