Why people ( men) with liver cirrhosis have gynecomastia compare with women that have breast atrophy ?

The liver is responsible for breaking down the small amounts of estrogen naturally found in biologically male individuals in order to render it inactive. Dysfunction of the liver prevents this process from occurring, allowing the excess estrogen to stimulate the growth of breast tissue.

@Bright or that the new androgen levels are more important than the oestrogen excess.

In women, breast atrophy occurs because SHGB output is decreased by liver dysfunction, which leads to higher levels of androgens. This is what causes signs of “defeminization,” such as hirsuitim and breast atrophy.

estrogen is not limited( broken down )by liver to proper amount , hence resulting into increased level of estrogen which causes gynecomastia
