Janeway lesions

Janeway lesions

Janeway lesions are nontender erythematous macular lesions located on the palms and/or soles. They are commonly associated with the acute form of bacterial endocarditis, however not all patients with endocarditis present them. They are caused by septic emboli that travel from the valvular lesion, leading to the formation of microabscesses in the dermis.
