Treatment of Krabbe's disease

Treatment of Krabbe's disease

Unfortunately, there’s no cure for Krabbe disease, and it usually results in death. There’s one type of treatment that can slow the progression of Krabbe disease called hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT). A stem cell transplant helps your body replace unhealthy cells with healthy or normal cells. Hematopoietic cells are immature cells that can develop into all types of blood cells, including white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets.
