Iridodialysis

Iridodialysis

Iridodialysis and traumatic cataract after firecracker injury. // Iridodialysis, sometimes known as a coredialysis, is a localized separation or tearing away of the iris from its attachment to the ciliary body. Iridodialyses are usually caused by blunt trauma to the eye, but may also be caused by penetrating eye injuries. Iridodialyses have been reported to have occurred from boxing, airbag deployments, high-pressure water jets, elastic bungee cords, bottle caps opened under pressure, water balloons, fireworks and various types of balls. Traumatic cataract is a clouding of the lens that may occur after either blunt or penetrating ocular trauma that disrupts the lens fibers. from @optometry.case

Is this painful?? Specifically, can a patient be in a car wreck, with airbag deployment, and suffer this injury but not have any complaints of pain or discomfort??
