Janeway lesions are a rare clinical finding that can occur in some individuals with bacterial infections, particularly those caused by certain strains of bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus. These lesions are small, painless, red or purple spots that develop on the palms of the hands or the soles of the feet. Janeway lesions are caused by immune complexes that are formed in response to the bacterial infection. These immune complexes can deposit in the small blood vessels of the skin, leading to inflammation and the development of the characteristic lesions.
