☆Ovoid flecks of calcification resembling grains of rice in the soft tissues of lower extremities The calcifications parallel the long axis of the muscle. ☆ This is characteristic of infection with Taenia solium (cysticercosis) when the inflammatory response of the host kills the larval cysts (cysticerci), they undergo granulomatous change and become calcified.
