Velocardiofacial syndrome

Velocardiofacial syndrome (VCFS) is a genetic condition characterized by abnormal pharyngeal arch development that results in defective development of the parathyroid glands, thymus, and the conotruncal region of the heart. Shprintzen and colleagues first described the syndrome in 1978.
