I’m entering my first year of college and i’ve taken two Bio/Anatomy classes in the last year and I know the basics and everything but most things slip my mind after i’m done with the chapter. Is it bad this happens if I am trying to pursue some sort of nursing career and is there anything I can do to remember things better
Dont worry! First - It is completely normal, and it happens to everybody. And second, you can prevent most of this by following the advice that Kassem gave you. Try to connect things as you learn. Also - revising on material within 24 hours since you read it first is a massive help!
Nope! It will all come back to you as you continue your studies. Don’t just leave those books alone. Keep reading them when you can and keep engulfing yourself in all aspects of medicine. It’ll all begin to come together and stick.
She's right. I just started my firsy nursing job and when things come up that i forgot about i usually know them. Get a notebook and as you study each chapter quickly jot down topics or diseases that are most important to you. Then move on. And when you have free time just refresh every once in while. Also, i made papers with the important things on it and put them on my wall. Pintrest has great ideas on how to remember things under its nursing topics. Good luck. You'll be fine.
I like to learn through understanding. My anatomical understanding is pretty good and it isn't because of memory. If you learn these things based off location it gets very very easy. 95% of muscles and anatomical structures are named based off location so it will be pretty good if you just learnt the location. That way memorization isn't necessary.
