What if I am gaining too much weight during pregnancy?
According to The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists pregnant women should gain 25 to 35 pounds during pregnancy. Being overweighed during pregnancy poses risk for gestational diabetes, pre-eclampsia and sleep apnea with high risk for C-section. Gaining too much weight during pregnancy increases risk for macrosomia, large size of baby than average, posing risk for shoulder dystocia and premature birth. Such women are likely to retain postpartum weight and may have obese children.
