Fiber is widely known for regulating bowel movements and regularity. There are some other benefits of fiber as well. Fiber lowers cholesterol by binding to bile and expelling it out of body. Since bile is made of cholesterol therefore body needs to pull out cholesterol from reserves and utilize in synthesis of bile. This ultimately leads to decrease in cholesterol level. Fiber also lowers blood sugar level. Moreover, cholesterol controls weight by maintaining satiety for long periods therefore preventing overeating. As fiber regulates gut health therefore it contributes highly to preventing intestinal cancer.
