According to Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, you should consume 25-35 grams of total fiber per day, with 10-15 grams from soluble fiber or 14g of fiber per 1,000 calories. Please note that fiber requirement decreases as we age. The academy recommends 21 grams and 30 grams fiber for women and men over the age of 70, respectively.
