What are the factors to consider before performing single-fiber electromyography (SFEMG)?
The factors that need to be considered before performing single-fiber electromyography are: • Experience of the person performing electromyography. The person should have all the adequate knowledge about the instruments and the application of the procedure before performing. • Patient’s comfort should be taken in account especially when several muscles are involved • Incase tge patient suffers from tremors, the procedure can be performed on facial muscles or proximal arm muscles • If SFEMG is to be performed in children less than 8 years old, proper settings need to be provided so that the child does not move during the procedure as children are usually not cooperative during medical procedures.
