Postcoital bleeding, bleeding after sex, has several causes. They include; • STDs (Sexually Transmitted Diseases) or PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease) • Atrophic vaginitis i.e. vaginal dryness • Vaginal injury by tears during childbirth, vaginal dryness and excessive friction during sex • Endometrial and cervical polyps – benign non-cancerous outgrowths • Cervical erosion or cervical ectropion – a harmless condition of neck of uterus
