What if I am not gaining enough weight during pregnancy?
There is no real concern with not gaining weight during pregnancy unless you yourself were already under weight. As long as you are of a healthy weight, taking vitamins, and eating regularly your baby will be just fine.
According to The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists pregnant women should gain 25 to 35 pounds during pregnancy. Being underweighed during pregnancy poses risk for low birth weight and premature delivery. To improve weight eat small frequent meals every few hours and avoid skipping meals, snack on nutrient dense and high-calorie foods, drink high-calorie drinks such as smoothie with full-fat milk, and prefer cooking with extra fat. Consult a dietician as well.
