Cognitive Behavioral Treatment (CBT) is a psychotherapy that involves a strategy to modify thinking pattern. In eating disorders, CBT evolves the negative and self-defeating thoughts into affirmative and self-worthy thoughts. This helps an individual eat healthy and enough to fulfill their energy requirements as well as meet weight goals. Negative thought example: “I can’t eat this food. It is too much and I will vomit.” Positive though example: “I will eat this meal to attain my weight goal.” This therapy involves; • Building person’s commitment towards change • Learning to monitor triggers, food choices and food portions • Control over stimuli and triggers • Distraction during stressful moments • Practicing problem solving instead of comfort eating
