Have you ever wondered what would happen if you would step in boiling water? . This is a case of third degree burns on both feet after dipping them in boiling water. Patient is suffering from diabetic peripheral neuropathy and did not feel the burn until it was too late. . TAG a friend and FOLLOW us @medicalpedia for more extreme cases! Credit: @reconst.surg.col
How long would that take in boiling water. I know there are different temps but average
What if he was not diabetic and didnt stay that long time in the boiling water? Would his burn still be 3rd degree?
Would it be possible to skin graft this patient? Successfully grafting entire feet must be difficult enough on a healthy patient, let alone one with diabetes. It seems drastic but I wonder if amputation and use of prosthetics would allow the patient to regain the ability to walk faster, giving a better QOL and lower infection risk
