Mechanism of Action of Rabeprazole Rabeprazole, a PPI, inhibits the secretion of gastric acid by suppressing the gastric H+, K+ ATPase located on the secretory surface of parietal cells in gastric mucosa. This enzyme facilitates the last step of gastric acid secretion and that is where Rabeprazole acts and suppresses the action of gastric acid release.
