What is Chagas disease?
Chagas Disease, referred to as American trypanosomiasis, is a life-threatening parasitic infection. This disease is caused by Trypanosoma cruzi and transmitted to humans by triatomine bug, also called kissing bug. This parasitic infection is limited to South America, Mexico and Central America. Chagas disease presents with swelling at the site of infection, rash, eyelid swelling, fever, fatigue, body ache, swollen glands, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
