Cause of Baker’s Cyst Baker’s cyst is formed when any structure in or around the knee joint is damaged in a trauma. The popliteal fossa behind the knee contains synovial fluid which flows out of the joint and forms a sac. This condition usually develops after knee injury or arthritis.
