Pretty sure its: age (risk increases with your age), sex (women are more likely to get/develop them), pregnancy, family history and obesity. There might be more risk factors, but these are the ones I'm aware of.

The exact causes of varicose veins is unknown. However, some possible risk factors include; - Weak valves in veins - Age - Sex i.e. females - Obesity - Continuously walking or standing - Genetic influence - Pregnancy
