No. Putting butter on burns causes more harm than good, it prolongs the health process and it seals in the heat. If it's a minor burn, it's best to run a cool water (cool, not freezing and do not use ice) on the burned area before gently cleaning it with tap water and mild soap. Clean it 2x a day. Make sure that your hands are clean before cleaning the wound. If it becomes unbearable and has a certain smell, it's best to call your doctor.

Applying butter to a burn traps heat inside. It increases tissue damage and prevents healing of burn. Place the burn under cold running water to minimize pain and burning. Loosely wrap a bandage around the burn and ensure it does not stick.
