Snowflake cataracts are associated with uncontrolled hyperglycemia. However, the attached image is taken during the hypoglycemic state. A 42 years old man developed snowflake cataracts in both eyes within few days of initiation of hypoglycemic agents. The exact mechanism of development of cataracts could not be understood completely, however, it was postulated that sudden decrease in blood sugars can alter permeability of the lens, thereby, causing formation of snowflake cataract.
