Chickengunya is a viral disease caused by chickungunya virus (CHIKV). This mosquito-borne disease presents with abrupt onset of fever, joint pain, myalgia, rash, fatigue and nausea. The symptoms usually last for 4-8 days. It is often misdiagnosed as dengue. Chickungunya does not have a specific treatment or vaccine. The treatment is symptomatic and focuses on general rest and drinking plenty of fluids.
