There may have been some concern about kidney function and the kidneys ability to excrete anesthesia meds

1. To obtain a baseline in terms of renal functions- optimal renal function is required for excretion of most of the drugs used in anaesthesia. Moreover, a patient with preexisting renal function derangement will be handled differently, it informs the choice of drugs etc
