To Lessen the Intensity of Tinnitus • Wear ear plugs or ear muffs to block the noise of machinery at work. • Use ear plugs or ear muffs even at outdoor recreational events such as concerts, sports event, and festivals etc. • Keep the volume of headphones less than the dangerous level. Headphones are prime cause of tinnitus. • Keep a check on your blood pressure. • Minimize salt intake. • Avoid alcohol, caffeine and nicotine. • Exercise for at least 20-30 minutes daily. • Avoid aspirin and aspirin products in large amounts. • Use masking noise such as fans, radio, ticking clock, electronics and other routine mildly noisy objects. Most importantly; • Do not worry about tinnitus. The more you worry about it the more noticeable it becomes. Forget about it. You can live a normal life with tinnitus.
