Drugs, damage, & more. Some medications (statins as an example) can cause rhadbomyolysis, direct and concussive damage to muscles can cause rhabdo (explosions), even neuroleptic malignant syndrome can cause it. Giving halothane can induce malignant hyperthermia which can also lead to rhabdo, if the patient has a mutated ryanodine receptor. (Tx. Dantrolene) List is nearly endless for causes of rhabdo.
