Sleep disorders, also called sleep-wake disorders, are problems related to amount, quality and timing of sleep. Poor sleep results in impaired functioning and distress during day time. These disorders are related to emotional and physical concerns. Sleep problems are sometimes associated with mental conditions as well. Some common sleep disorders include insomnia, obstructive sleep apnea, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome and parasomnia.
