Infection begins when bacteria, virus or fungi break into your skin. This is only possible when your skin is cut. The cut may be a laceration, wound, surgical incision or any other possibility. This allows the micro-organisms to invade the skin. Many of them are harmless on the skin, but equally harmful inside.
