APGAR scoring system is used immediately after birth in order to determine neonate's heart rate, muscle tone, skin color, respiratory rate, and reflexes. A score of less than 5 at 5 and 10 minutes increases the risk of cerebral palsy. APGAR Score is not used to calculate the risk of mortality in neonates.
