Hepatoportoenterostomy (Kasai Procedure)

Biliary atresia is a rare condition that can present in the paediatric population due to blocking or scarring of bile ducts. This blockage can result in backing up of bile in the hepatic tissue and resultant liver damage. This condition is usually treated surgically by removing the bile duct and replacing it with a section of childs intestine that forms the duct.
