What are the two groups of patients who tend to be diagnosed with myasthenia gravis?
Myasthenia gravis is a condition in which neuromuscular disorder leads to skeletal muscle weakness. It is an autoimmune disease in which antibodies are formed against acetyl choline receptors in neuromuscular junction. People with conditions like thymoma or history of auto immune disorders in family are at a higher risk. Myasthenia can also present as congenital disorder as well. Patient presents in various severity of muscle weakness and may even require ventilator support.
