Imaging Studies for Rabies • Chest X-Rays - Infiltrates due to ARDs, nosocomial pneumonia, aspiration and congestive heart failure • MRI and CT scan - In early illness; increasing nonspecific low-level T2 enhancement along the nerve root ganglia and nerve plexus - Later in illness; gadolinium enhancement may appear in the substantia nigra, thalamus, deep gray matter, brainstem, cranial nerves
