What is a Holmes-Adie pupil?
Neurological disorder in which one pupil is larger than the other and the size is much bigger than a normal pupillary dilation. The effected pupil is slow to react as well. Cause of the condition are mostly slow tendon reflexes, idiopathic, trauma, post-surgical complication, ischemia or infection. The damage is usually limited and non-progressive. Condition presents as visible size difference in pupil with other slow tendon reflexes. Rarely facial pain, headaches or emotional fluctuations are also seen. Diagnosis is done on clinical examination and history. There is no need to treat the condition but corrective glasses may be required only.
