Aedes mosquito • They have narrow black body with light and dark pattern of scales on thorax and abdomen. Similar alternating dark and light-colored bands are present on the legs as well. • They lay black-colored eggs on moist surface, such as mud close to water bodies e.g. marshes, plant axils, tree holes, ponds, and stagnant water in containers, clay pots and tires. • They feed during the day. Most common sites of bite on human body are neck and ankles. • Their activity is at peak at dawn and dusk. • Their preferred hosts are humans.
