Macular degeneration is an age-related process. There are two types of macular degeneration: wet and dry. Wet macular degeneration is less common than dry counterpart. In fact, almost all cases of wet macular degeneration are preceded by dry macular degeneration. Wet macular degeneration causes blind spots in the visual field. In addition, the patient may complain of image distortion, difficulty adapting to dim light, and difficulty in recognizing faces.
