What are the key parts of a biographical history?
People suffering from dementia eventually end up completely disconnected with their surroundings. Health care workers have found that to help resurface the patient’s personality and to be able to communicate with them better, a tool in history taking called biographical history is used. It involves the important events from the patient’s life, friends and favorite activities. When taking biographical history, it should cover: length of education (if less than 12 marking of cognitive test is increased), other biographical questions like: long term memories (wedding date, job) and short term memories (what you did for last weekend).
